Caloosa Traditional Picnic Drive 2009 |
|
Caloosa 3rd Annual Picnic Drive November 1, began our driving season in the Southeast Region of the Florida Whips. We started our first event with 12 drivers heading out on a country drive in full costume regalia. There were two top hat gentleman driving minis, two goddesses driving a white welsh pony named "Alfie", a milk lady driving a white mini mule, a fine gentleman in a straw afternoon hat, a farmer driving Belle, a gypsy, a fall flower carriage drawn by a very nice Paso Fino, and Princess Fiona driving donkey. You really had to be there. It was shear chaos at first until all were checked out at the safety check, and all were speeding out on the trail. Along canal banks and curvy roads, finally,it led the way to the judge, where one at a time each were inspected for clean harness, clean equines, fine costurmes, and a great sense of humor. After a salute it was off to hunt down buckets filled with "doo-dads" that had to be included in the final picnic presentation, just after a timed cone course was completed. Picnics were displayed upon the grass, exhibiting candied apples, cakes, cookies, harvest soup, cheese and crackers. Great prizes were awarded in baskets and bundles. McClelland Saddlery of Lake Worth Florida, donated over $70 in prizes. The free ticket raffle drawing was for an entry in Port Mayaca Harvest Day HDT, and it was won by the luckiest man on earth, Jeff White and Inspiration, the most beautiful Hackney Pony on earth!!! Yeah...we had fun!! |
