A Letter from the President

Dear Fellow Members,
 

As your President, I want to thank you for being a member of the Florida Whips and to take a moment to speak directly to each of you about what the Florida Whips means to me — and what I believe it can mean to all of us.
 

The Florida Whips Driving Club simply cannot work without the participation of its members. That is not a complaint — it is a fact, and it is also an opportunity. We have the potential to be a club that has a great deal to offer our membership, but realizing that potential requires all of us to be involved.
 

Our goal as a club is to educate individuals in driving horse-drawn vehicles — improving and developing driving capabilities and safety procedures, and educating the public on the history of our community as it relates to horse-drawn vehicles. That mission is meaningful. It is worth our time and energy. But involvement is essential if we are going to reach our goals.
 

So, I want to ask you directly: Do you have skills that could help us meet those goals?

We are actively looking for members who might be willing to share their talents in any of the following areas:

• Teaching — Do you have a background in instruction or education?

• Accounting or bookkeeping — We are forming an audit committee and need members with financial experience.

• Secretarial skills — Administrative support is always valuable.

• Web design and maintenance — Our website is a key tool for reaching members and the public.

• Horse training or veterinary skills — Your expertise directly supports our driving mission.

• Planning and logistics — Events don't happen without people who can organize them.

• Communication skills — Helping us reach members and the broader community is vital.

Are you retired and find yourself with some free time? Volunteers are always needed. No contribution is too small.
 

Within our membership, we have an extraordinary amount of talent and dedication to this sport. I see it every time we come together. Now I am asking us to pull together — to advance the sport of driving and to make the Florida Whips the club we all know it can be.
